The science that studies the Earth and all its interactions is geology, and those involved in the studies are geologists. It is a unique and fascinating science because its laboratory is the enviornment in which we live. Geologists find it very diffcult to carry out controlled experiments in their "geological laboratory"--the scales of space and time needed for such experments are simply too large.
